Piece fell off suspension (photos) - 98 EX Sedan
Hi all,
My model (for rules purposes) is a 1998 Accord EX Sedan. The car has 425,000 KM on it, which is pretty much unheard of where i live.
A piece has fallen off the bottom of my car. It appeared to be attached at one end directly under the engine near the centre, and at the other to the wheel (i am assuming it is in some way suspension related). It is still attached at the wheel end and it appears (not very reassuring) that the piece rusted off. Below are two pictures, the first from under the passenger side door, and the other from under the front of the engine.
I want to know:
- What this part does (function)
- How important is it
- Is it possible to have it fixed or is this the end of the road
Any and all help is appreciated, i'm having it towed this afternoon to a really good mechanic, hopefully he has good news for me.

The pipe part looks like the stabilizer bar (aka anti-sway bar). The rubber part wrapping around the pipe looks like the bushing. What is concerning to me, is what the bushing was bolted to. I think it bolts to the sub-frame, and that looks rusted. You will have to find out if the parts of the subframe are bolted on the car, or welded.
With something rusting like that, you should really inspect under the car for other areas for really bad rust.

that is your anti-roll bar
you can live without it.
It is there to help keep the car flatter while turning.
personally I would drive without it as the cost to repair it will prob be more than the car is worth, IMO
