Power Steering Pump?
#11
how would i go about draining the current power steering fluid. and also i wasnt aware of the o-ring issue and went and bought a salvaged part which was a mistake because this part has about the same amount of miles my current car has so it will probably end up messing up as well so my question is where can i acquire the o rings for the fix

As I said, most of the issues I've seen/read with the o-ring where on the 03-there is a TSB on this. Not sure if yours would be the same, but buying the o-ring from the dealer and trying would cost > $5 (?) and almost no fluid loss.
Methods for removing the old fluid...well get creative. Some have use a "turkey" baster, almost that time of year-for a new one (please don't re-use) to suck the fluid out first....I use the wife's old IV stuff- another story- to do things like this. (brake fluid, ect). There will always be some left in the bottom, you're just trying to get out as much as possible.

One word of warning if you decide to go the service manual route, stop the motor immediately once the fluid stops running out of the hose to prevent pump damage.
However, depending on your symptoms, you may be able to just get away by changing the o-ring and topping back the power steering fluid. You can get the o-ring from the dealer, the list price is like $0.67. Get some genuine Honda power fluid with it will make it ~ $5. See the links I included in my previous posts in this thread for the information.

Whining is caused by air getting into the PS fluid. Only place this can happen is on the low pressure (< 1 atmosphere) suction side. Replace this oring first and see if problem is resolved. There could also be a leak at reservoir connection, but pressure differential here is almost zero, so less likely.
I'm sorry to say I can't recommend any shops in Houston, since I do all my own work. I have very occasionally used a local shop in Katy, which unfortunately is no longer in business.
Finding a good auto shop can be difficult. I have used Angies List to find contractors for home repairs; fence, general maintenance. Looking there for auto shops w/ 10 reviews and rated A. I found 7 shops.
1) Quality Auto Center
2) Freedom Automotive Inc
3) Colony One Auto Center
4) Midtown Auto Service & Repair
5) Sal's Westheimer Auto Service
6) Cornerstone Automotive
7) Fixers Automotive
Hopefully, one of those will be convenient.
Angies List is not a bad investment before committing to any significant repair work; car or home.
good luck

I feel so stupid for buying a used power steering pump when I could have just checked the o rings, regardless of my mistake i'm proud to say that the whining sound is gone and all labor was done by me saved myself 500 dollars.that's what the dealer wanted. And I gotta say its a really good feeling working on your own car.

Replacing "O" ring
I have an 07 Accord EX V6 4dr. I too am having the "moan" in the power steering pump when it is cold. I attempted to replace the "O" ring as detailed in the Forum. However, I discovered my Accord did not have an existing "O" ring. Nevertheless, I did put the "O" ring I had just purchased on the inlet hose coupler but it would not seat properly and I could not fasten the bolt securely. I removed the "O" ring and reinstalled the coupler and bolt and it fit perfectly.
Does anyone know if my particular Accord requires an "O" ring?

There is an oring under the suction fixture. Remove retaining bolt and pull suction fixture to access.
