Power Steering and Timing belt related?
Hello Forum,
I am very new to this, and am not much of a technical person.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have a 2007 Honda accord and recently it was making noises when I start the car. I took it to the dealer which they mentioned they needed to replace the timing belt.
I bought package to have the whole thing change (belt, pumps) after a week later the car started to have the same problem. I took it back to the dealer, the problem was that the power steering hose needed to replaced and such since it was a known problem (Power steering recall) they replaced it for free for the second time.
What I would like to know is that is the Power Steering and Timing belt related? would problems in the power steering cause noises and is related to timing belt?
I would like to recover some of my money since if the the issue was caused by it in the first place.
I bought the car at 89,000 and I am at 100,000 miles. There was no mention that this car was recalled nor a recall sticker was seen on the car.
Timing belts needs to be replaced at 90-95,000 miles but is it not the dealers responsibility to maintain the car? It was already approaching the maintenance period.
Thank you for your suggestions.

1. Did the noise sound like this video?
If that is the same sound, then that was probably due to the idler pulley mounting surface tilted, causing the edge of the timing belt to rub against the side of the pulser flange on the drive pulley (gear). There was a Honda Service Bulletin 08-045 regarding that.
Honda TSB 08-045
Your car was near the recommended service interval for changing the timing belt.
2. For the power steering hose recall, there were two separate Honda service bulletins; #12-066 and a later #13-012. Vehicles that were repaired under Service Bulletin 12-066, Safety Recall: 2003–07 Accord Power Steering Feed Hose Leak, must still be repaired under Service Bulletin 13-012 to make sure the updated power steering hose is installed.

I don't think the timing belt and your PS issues as related but getting the timing belt changed is a very good investment with an interference engine. The mileage to change one is a guide and things like oil leaks will shorten the lifespan of a timing belt.

This is a V6 engine Accord, right? The timing belt was due to be changed at this time anyway, so it's not likely they will reimburse you for that. The power steering pump is only related to the timing belt in that it has to be disconnected, to do the timing belt replacement. The function of the power steering has nothing to do with the function of the timing belt.
