Default problem with radar detector

i have a 93 accord dx and while accelerating the radar detector sends out a emergency alert signal (letting me know a emergency vehicle is in my area). anyway i disconnected the wiring to the alarm and that did not solve the problem. as far as i know there are not any other devices transmitting anything and it is not my radar detector because my wifes does the same thing in my car. any ideas???

it is not a defective unit as we own 2 radar detectors and they both go crazy in our honda but not our contour

The car is obviously generating some type of RF interference, it's hard to say where it could be coming from, most likely the ignition. How to fix it? I couldn't tell you, maybe some new plug wires with better shielding.

Call the manufacturer of the unit, maybe they can help.

I would check the ground on your car then since a bad ground = a lot of whining = RF production. how about you do this

power the unit with a different 12V source while the honda is running. does it still do the same thing?
