Only once did I ever see my low-fuel light come on, I actually wanted to get most of the "old gas" out of the car since it was in late April and most gas stations in this part of Western New York had now switched to the "summer blend". When I stopped at a Sunoco station to fill the tank, the fuel light was on, though it was only on for maybe 15 miles. I filled the tank and it only took maybe 13 1/2 gallons! The '06 Accord fuel tank holds 17.09gallons! Normally, Ifill up when the needlegets just below half a tank unless I'm on a road trip then Ifill up at about 1/4 tank, tooafraid to go any lower than that! Filled up tonight, I have the 4 Cylinder engine in my Accord and got 33.64mpg!

of course ,,,till it clicks ,, just do not keep on putting in gas once the nozzle has clicked ,, if you overfill it way too much ,, it could cause some evap system components to fail

This was an informative liitle thread, thanks for the tips guys.

I've got a question - does anyone know about or use pure acetone in their tanks and if so, is it really safe? I understand that adding about two ounces to every 10 gallons will DRAMATICALLY increase fuel economy. You can supposedly go from around 21-22 mpg to 32-33 mpg. I have a link to the info if it is not already a well known and either accepted or discouraged thing.

MPG is about energy content. If you use ethel alcohol w/ 10% less btu/gallon, your gas mileage decreases correspondingly. For acetone to yield 30% higher mpg would require a dramatic amount of energy from somewhere.

A quick google yields many touts, buta few rigorous tests; Mythbusters and Kettering University. I could believe perhaps a small improvement due to improved gas:air mixing, perhaps 1-5%, but higher than that seems unlikely. Fuel efficiency improvements in the < 5% range are difficult to detect since they represent only a few miles per tank. It's easy to deceive yourself. See following interesting blogger w/ both sides presented pretty evenly.

I doubt that 2-3 oz/tank of acetone will affect orings since the dilution is very high, approximately 500-600:1.

regards

Interesting read. By the comments, some believe they proved it worked for themselves while others are doubters based on science. I don't know what to believe, but if it won't hurt my car, then I might try it. Here is the link I saw pertaining to this subject:
