Default Random engine shutoff, and gauge cluster malfuc.

A few months ago, my car kept dying. At random. In drive mostly. First very occasional. Then to the point of every few seconds. Finally pinpointed the ignitor to be the issue. Replaced. No issues for a few months. Now I started having similar issues. Only it will die, and the gauge cluster will stop reading as well. Radio keeps playing. But no dash lights, speed, tach, temp, ect. And if you turn the key back, then into ON position again a few times, it will usually allow you to start. I've wiggled the key, and its not my ignition switch. I've replaced the dist. Again, and it helped at first. Now I'm just lost as to where to look. All fuses look good too. Help please!! Runs perfect. Gets perfectly maintained.

From your description, ignition switch assy is most likely fault. Key indicator is all dash lights going off. About only way this happens is a ignition switch fault. Just because you wiggle the switch and get no change doesn't rule out ignition switch assy. The mechanical keylock and ignition switch are separate parts w/ a mechanical link w/ some "slop". Sometime a "midway" key position will work and not elsewhere. All indicate failed ignition switch assy.

Easy to remove ignition switch assy and replace, usually less than 1/2 hr. Check numerous youtube videos on the subject. Search "accord ignition switch repair".

good luck
