rattling sound at 2300 to 2500 rpms
As it says in my sig i have a 96 accord ex 2.2 vtec with a manual trans, i have a rattling sound that appears in pretty much every gear as i shift through them driving, the sound starts at 2300 rpms and stops after reaching 2500 rpms. I think and feel like its probably a cover or something with a loose bolt some where and probably not a big deal but it annoying and i would like to get it stopped, i was just wondering if anyone else with with this gen has had a similar issue and found a fix? Thanks in advance!

i should also mention that i have checked on everything i can think of that might cause this rattling sound, i removed the plastic cover from underneath the front of the car that sits just behind where the bumper stops, ive removed and then replaced the heat shield over the exhaust manifold with no change, i replaced a couple of missing rubber supports along the exhaust from front to rear, i double checked that my axes and spare tire and other stuff in the trunk are not the cause of the issue, etc any ideas are welcome. It seems to come from the front/ engine area of the car. again thanks for any help

There was a Honda bulletin regarding an exhaust system buzz before:

This may or not be related to your problem.

Look very carefully at where the four bolts hold that heat shield together. My 95 accord had a very fine crack that was hard to see. It caused the rattling sound you are describing. I use two large hose clamps around that heat shield. I tightened them down with a socket and it helped eliminate the noise.

I had an annoying rattle in my 95 Integra - think it might be what that TSB is about.
The A-pipe (before the cat) is actually a pipe-inside-a-pipe. The inner pipe is attached upstream, and at the downstream end it's not attached - that allows the inner pipe to expand differently from the outer pipe.
With heat, age, and operating stresses, the pipe gets warped, and eventually the inner pipe buzzes against the outer pipe. No exhaust leaks, but this annoying buzzing sound. It changed with applying power, becuase the engine torques a bit in it's mounts, flexing the pipe.
