Rear enging mount or intake system?

Rear enging mount or intake system?
Car: 97 Accord 4 cylinder DX, 180, 000 mile
Symptom: excessive noise and vibrationespecially during acceleration.
Just found that most of the vibration is from the intake. I put myhand onthe intake and felt verymuch shaking of it, while there is no such feeling on other parts. I didvalve adjustment but did not see dramatic change of the symptom. So now I am guessing it is either the problem of the intake or the rear engine mount underneath. I checked the solenoid that control the vacuum of the rear mount and found it is still working. I can only see a little bit of the rear engine mount from the passenger side of the engine and cannot draw any conclusion of its condition. I know it is pretty hard to change it and hope it is not the mount problem. Any idea from you guys? Is the shaking of the intake normal? or is there any way to smooth it?
Thanks.

RE: Rear enging mount or intake system?
if the intake is shaking excessivly you can do a few things.... as a test you can always temorarily disconnect it and see if the noise goes away... as a fix you can use some double sided foam sticky tape and put it in between the bolts etc where the intake touches the car so it cuts down on the vibration noise or you can get a short ram intake and just replace the whole deal.... However, the intake is attached to the engine and unless it's loose the only thing that's going to "rattle" it is the motor..... try disconnecting it and see if it goes away.... just remove the hose clamp from the throttle body and pull the intake hose off then see how the motor sounds, rev it a little and make sure that's the issue then decide how you want to repair it...

yes.... that big black hose that connects to the engine should have a hose clamp to hold it on to the Throttle body, loosen that hose clamp and slide the hose off the throttle body and then try it.... that way the intake can't make any noise....
