I just bought a new Accord on Monday. This morning was the first morning I have had to use my rear window defroster. After the defroster had been on for a while I went outside to get in my car and noticed that the top portion of the rear window was not defrosted. The area came a few inches down the window from the roof of the car. The portion that was frosted did not pose any visibility problems. After I got to work I noticed the defroster grid was different for the top portion that did not defrost. Is this because the top grid is the antenna for the sterio and it is not made to defrost or should the entire window defrost?

 

Right. The top couple wires are the radio antenna, not defrosters.

Look on the sides of the window for the larger bar connecting all the defroster wires. You'll see it connects to all the defroster wires, but doesn't connect to the antenna wires.
