recalls
#2
Most people wouldn't have any problems related to the recalls. Honda issued the recalls to prevent possible issues.
1. The nosemask (bra) recall was for Accord owners that purchased this accessory. Honda estimated the impact was 3,700.
IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.
So even if you had the nosemask, if the hood was completely closed, there wouldn't be an issue. The number of people that purchased this was not very great.
2. Honda TSB 11-049 was a Product Update: Software Update to Improve Fuel Injector and VTC Timing.
BACKGROUND
The fuel injector timing and VTC timing at cold start may create deposits on the oil control rings that could contribute to increased oil consumption.
3. Honda TSB 11-50 was Safety Recall: A/T Software Update to Prevent Transmission Damage
BACKGROUND
If the transmission is repeatedly shifted between reverse (R), neutral (N), and drive (D) at high engine RPM, such as when rocking the vehicle to get it unstuck from snow, the transmission may become damaged. This damage may cause an engine stall and/or cause the vehicle to move when the gear
selector is in park (P).
If you don't drive in areas with snow, the chances of transmission damage from this would be minimal.
Both Honda TSB 11-49 and 11-50 takes about 20 minutes to do the software updates to the ECM/PCM. However, most dealers will allow for extra time as sometimes the software may not take the first few times or they are busy with other jobs.
4. The rear brake wearing early was due to a class action lawsuit settlement. There was no recall regarding this. Some people got full or partial reimbursement for replacement of the rear brake pads. Some Honda dealers replaced for no charge during the settlement period. IIRC, the settlement period has passed.
If you don't drive the car much, that may be a reason for not having the rear pads worn out yet. Honda has already issued different new brake pads to try to remedy the issue. The 2011 and 2012 Accord have different calipers too.
