Default repairing my non-retracting seatbelt

Hello,

The rear seatbelt of my 1996 Accord EX is'nt retracting anymore. Here is a picture:

http://s962.photobucket.com/albums/a...t=ceinture.jpg

It appears to me that either the belt is twisted, either the mechanism has a problem. I tried to nudge it inside with a coat hanger, and I did'nt manage to move it.

I wonder if you would have any idea of what I could try out (to find out whats the problem, and eventually repairing) before taking it to the mechanic and see if i can claim a warranty on it- wich I read about on this forum.

Thanks

Jf

It's a 1996 Honda Accord EX, 4 doors.

Honestly I wouldn't put too much time or effort into trying to fix it. You could probably go to a junkyard and get a replacement for $10 or $20.

Thanks for your advice.
Should I go to a mechanic to replace the belt? Or could I try to take the plastic off and try it myself?

You could probably handle it, if I recall correctly there are no bolts holding the plastic cover on, you just pop it off.

I am pretty sure the seatbelts have a lifetime warranty. That information should be in the owner's manual.

Thanks for you advice everyone.

I'll try to pop the plastic open and see for myself. If the seatbelt is broken, I'll check if the warranty is valid in Canada.

Have a nice day,

Jf
