Rough start up, shift, and rev
Hey guys I have a 1990 Honda Accord LX with a h22a motor and f22 tranny. When it starts up it makes kind of a rough sound, like something is rubbing together (maybe metal on metal?). The sound also occurs when I shift and when I rev it. I dont have a clue as to where it could be from. If there is any suggestions that would be great. Thank you

RE: Rough start up, shift, and rev
The noise only occurs when i rev it, shifting from gear to gear, without being on the gas while driving, and in reverse. It doesnt do it at idle, or if it does i cant tell. However it comes and goes. One day it will do the problem and another it wont. I think I have the stock accord wiring harness, which may be a problem that could lead to that.

RE: Rough start up, shift, and rev
Auxilliary drive belts (alternator, power steer, air-con) maybe? These can commonly be noisy on cold start up (slipping) when they're cool and won't grip as well as they do when they are warmed up with use. Even if they don't generally slip when cruising, when you rev the motor a belt may slip as it tries to bring /keepthe auxilliary component at the increased engine speed. This might also occur when changing from a higher gear to a lower gear (e.g. 5th to 4th) because this will increase engine rpm.
