Default Royal Purple

I am buying a new 2012 Accord with the 2.4L 4 cylinder engine. I previously owned an '09 Nissan Frontier V-6 that I used Royal Purple with K&N filters on and never had any problems. I remember the Nissan dealer commenting on the Royal Purple and stated that it was an excellent oil but to have the dealership make the first oil change (no additional charge to me) and then to switch to Royal Purple when getting ready for the second oil change at about 6,000 miles. This would allow the engine to break in on conventional oil before switching to synthetic. Not sure if this was BS or not, but I followed his recommendation and everything went well.

I'm assuming Royal Purple synthetic oil with K&N filters would be an excellent choice for the Accord 2.4L, but I wanted to get the opinions of those of you who have experience with Honda's and get your thoughts on using Royal Purple with K&N filters or let me know your specific oil and filter preference.

Is there anything unique about Honda oil filters that requires their use exclusively?

Whatever I choose, I do like synthetic oils.

thanks............

Dealer is saying the standard approach = a scheduled switch to synthetic @ ~6000 miles is the 'norm.'

outta follow it - enjoy your car.
