The CEL staying on solid(when the SCS connector is jumpered)means there's no stored error codes.

I didnt want to open another thread but i have a couple more questions.

the ac compressor on my 97 accord 4cyl vtecat does not have a belt to it & i was wondering how i could tell if the ac compressor works? i was told that if you try to turn it manually & it does not turn it means that it is bad & you will have to replace. is that right?

on my wifes 97 accord 4cyl at, when you press on the brakethe pedaldoesnt go allthe way down butclose to the floor. i have checked the brake oil & its at the top line where it needs to be. what are the steps i can take to ck if the brake cylinder is bad or if they just need to bleed the brakes?

thanks in advance

If you cant spin the pulley, your compressor is bad.
If you can spin it, that does NOT prove its good.
I guess you should get a belt on it & measure refrigerant pressures with it running.

Bad MC usually causes the pedal to keep sinking till it hits the floor. Low pedal that doesnt keep sinking is probably air.

The pedal has been going closer & closer to the floor as time has passed.

I meant sinking over a minute or 2.

Usually the pedal starts hard but it slowly & smoothly sinks while holding at a long red light.

Try turning the inner part (face) of the compressor clutch plate by hand. It should rotate easily w/ just a slight resistance and outer pulley should not rotate (It should freewheel relative to face of clutch. Any resistance, grinding feel, orclutch plate locked to the pulley would indicate a compressor or clutch problem.

Best case is probably a bad clutch pulley bearing. This can be replaced by pulling the clutch plate, lock ring, and clutch pulley. Bearing is usually permanently staked to the pulley, but can be replaced or purchase a new pulley w/ bearing. Download 94-97 Accord manual from Online Manual note in DIY section for detailed procedures.

good luck
