rpms go crazy

when i accelerate hard, and get around 5000-6000 rpms, the tach jumps everywhere. why is this?

mine did this a while ago and it was a loose connection in the distributor................and thats redline on a stock accord so why does it matter? lol

For your year/engine, the tach signal comes from the ignitor (inside the distributor). So check connections again.

I've seen spark breakdown due to bad plugs also cause rpm fluctuations (94 Accord EX). This is not good for ignitor or coil. Clean and regap or replace plugs. Also check wires for arcing w/ water mist sprayed at night. Any visible arcing indicates wires are cracked.
