Yeah, thats not the original title of the thread. Read down to the bottom.

Hi I'm new to this and I'm a girl so please be patient. I have a 94 honda accord. The fans are not turning on unless I turn the air conditioner on then they turn on. The temperature gauge in the car doesn't show it's hot but when you lift the hood, it's HOT. After I stop a bunch of liquid leaks out but my radiatior is still full. The overflow looks empty. What can be wrong?

Does at least one of the fans turn on when you turn off the car?
Also after you drive the car, turn it off and feel if both the upper and lower radiator hose about the same temperature. Make sure that you don't touch them for too long, because they are pretty hot.

Both fans should engage when AC is running or w/o AC to cool the engine. If only one fan is engaging w/ AC, you have one dead fan. More likely thermostat A which commands the fans on when coolant temp reaches 195F is out, or the thermostat is not controlling temperature and temp is too low (gauge should show low coolant temp). Thermoswitch A is on the thermostat housing behind and below the distributor.

After you turn the engine offONE fanmay run if fan-switch B is hot.
The engine compartment can FEEL really hot even when its not hot enough to trigger the fan.
Mtrmouthb, where exactly is it leaking?

RE: 1994 accord cooling fans not working
Hi thanks for your response. No, when I turn off the car neither fan is on. The only time the fans come on is when I turn on the ac and they turn off as soon as I turn it off. It also seems really hot under the hood after I drive the car even a short distance, but the temperature gauge inside stays below the half way mark. It's a 94 Honda Accord.

Normally both fans run after temperature goes somewhat over 1/2. Tempted to say its normal.
Follow LOWER radiator hose back over tranny to thermostat housing. Unplug the fan switch in that housing & jumper the wire with a paperclip. Key ON that should make both fans run.
