Should I replace timing components while I'm in there?
Hello all.
I am going to be resealing the timing cover here in a month or so when I do my next oil change because it's leaking some oil.
My question is should I go ahead and buy all new timing components and install them while I'm in there regardless of the condition the OEM stuff is in? I don't want to spend the money and time if it will more than likely be a waste.
I have heard people mention K24 chain stretch before, but I am not in the industry so I can only rely on others and their experience. My car has been well maintained as far as regular oil changes (5k -8k miles) and is running great. Obviously, if I get in there and the chain is extremely worn I will replace everything.
Thank you everyone!
P.S. - If you could let me know why you are recommending what you are that would be great.
