Default Sloppy shifter

Hey guys I have a 99 Accord 4 cyl manual. The shifter is really slopping and I can't go into 5th or Reverse at all. I called Honda but there is no bushing to be changed, they said to adjust or replace the whole cable.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Dr. Drivability. It turns out one of the cables was snapped where it connects to the transmission. Is there a DIY around here that shows how to replace the linkage?

I think there's a link to a manual. See the sticky-post about "common DIY threads".

That manual should have a nice detailed procedure for those cables.
