Smokin (in a bad way) 92 Accord
Hello,
I am a proud owner of a 92 Accord EX which has 154000 miles one it. Recently I've noticed smoke rolling from under the hood...I assume a gasket is failing...is there a peticular gasket that fails more than others? And are any of the gaskets under there expensive to have replaced or are they all pretty simple operations? Just trying to give myself a heads up for what the garage might tell me. Thanks.

Distributor shaft oring, oil pressure sender (leak through sensor), valve cover gasket, oil pump cover gasket, camshaft seal, forward balance shaft seal, and crankshaft seal. Most of these result in drips not smoking. I would think the valve cover gasket is most likely to leak on the exhaust manifold and cause smoking under the hood. Easy DIY. Replace spark plug tube seals also and careful to note how old seals fit to the valve cover (direction of seal lips).
good luck

As texasHonda replied, there are too many places that a leak could occur..
Have you opened up the hood and take a look ?? it might be real obvious . also could be coolant leak. so i would have the cooling system pressure tested to make sure that there are no leaks

The car recently had a transmission flush...Could this have caused a leak? I was just thinking and realized that I didn't see any smoke until after this service. At the time I thought it was just some spilled fluid or oil...since I had the oil changed at the same time.
