Exclamation Someone help please, water and oil mixing

I have a 1993 honda accord that i bought a month ago. i noticed a few days before it ran hot that the water would be gone out the resivor(srry for misspell) after going places. the day it ran hot the resivor(x) was fun. now i have a leak coming from my engine block. one person told me it was the hose, i had a off duty mechanic take a look he told me that it was the water pump, when i had someone to come put on the water pump they told me that i have water in my oil and a bad head gasket. i was wondering if there is anything that i could do beside trash the car??? i really dont want to get rid of it but i need a car that is reliable.: eek:Someone help

It sounds like you need to figure out the source of the problem.

When the engine is cold, remove the radiator cap. Is there a layer of oil floating on top of the coolant? You may want to drain the oil and check that the oil doesn't look frothy (sort of like a a chocolate milkshake).

How many miles are on this car? How much money can you spend on the repair?

I filled it up to see if there was any oil floating but there wasn't any. The oil is fine in color but it easily drips.(not as thick as it should be) Would the car not being drove for about two weeks cause it to not be frosty if it was mixing?
221333 miles on the car. i am willing to do 1000+ only because im thinking that its the motor. so im kind of expecting the worst but praying for the best. im trying to find out as much as i can before i go to a mechanic shop because i know they may try to mess me over. im a 20 yr old female college student. just looking for as much info as possible. if its worst than what i expect i may as well send it to the junk yard right?

The worse thing you can do is let the engine run hot, so have coolant with you. One way to cool the engine is turn on the heat inside the car full blast. You want to prevent engine damage.

The oil would look like chocolate milk if coolant was getting into the oil.

Call you local auto parts store and find out if they have a radiator pressure tester that you essentially rent for free. When the engine is cold and you have it filled with coolant, attach the pressure tester. You pump up the radiator to about 15 psi, then see if the pressure falls quickly. Since the coolant is cold, you should be able to locate where it is leaking.

Here is a good video on how to do this:
