Default speaker replacment

I want to replace the front door speakers on my 2001 accord 4dr EX but am unable to remove the grills. Is it nessacary to remove the whole door panel?or is there a way of removing the grills without damage. Thanks for any info.

The grilles are screwed in from the back, so, yes you will have to remove the panel.

I would get a Haynes/Chilton manual for step-by-step instructions, but basically remove all of the screws you can find and pop out the bottom of the panel. Once all the plugs are out, pull straight up and disconnect the wiring harnesses.

Remember that the window runs up and down just behind the speakers.
I'd say over the years I've probably seen 100 jammed or broken windows from oversized speakers.
Just something to think about when buying speakers.

to what hondadude said. with my 92 when i bought new speakers for my doors. when i was trying to find the size everything said 6.5's and thats what i got. when i got in there i found something like 4' in an enclosure that was in a 6.5 hole. i tried to put the new larger speakers in there and the window was in the way. so i took a rotozip and cut out a ring spacer out of plywood and that made the difference! just something to think about. anybody else have issues getting the correct sized replacement speakers?
