Split Steering Gearbox/Rack Boot

Split Steering Gearbox/Rack Boot
Hello All:
Need some advice on my 94 Accord EX. The steering gearbox boot on the passenger side is split and needs to be replaced. What is the best approach? I looked it up in my service manual and it looks like the steering rack needs to come out for boot replacement - a rather big job.
I could not find a split boot kit on the web and not sure I have to skill to pull the steering gearbox out.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Actually the job is not too hard.
Getting the tie rod ends out is the only hard part if you do not have access to a propane torch (plumbers torch)
If you heat them for 15 seconds they come right out.
everything else is just a few bolts.

I've done both sides of my 94 EX. Easiest way to separate tie-rod is to purchase an inexpensive ball joint lift tool to avoid damaging the boot. If boot is deteriorated (likely), then a fork tool from auto parts store can be used. New boot from Honda can be installed over ball joint. New grease also req'd.
There are some good videos on youtube on this subject also. View them.
Suggest downloading the 94-Accord manual available from Online Manuals links in DIY forum.
good luck

Thanks - I assume that after the tie rod is disconnected, the tie rod must be removed then the boot can be replaced. Does it the need to be re-aligned? I did watch a video that said to count the number of turns you make to get the tie rod off so as to make it easier for the needed alignment when you re-install it.

I would def have it checked after doing this. Counting the turns should get you close but it doesn't hurt to have it checked.
