ORIGINAL: Alekat

1) With the vehicle warmed - have you tried applying the brakes while turning the steering wheel. If it squeals - is it the same sound.

You mention it happening only when making a 'SWEEPING TURN".

2) Does it not do it any other time?

3) Proper Honda fluid used?
1)No. I willtry that, but with the car standing still Im going to guess itwill not.
2) No not really. It seems to sound offonly with some speed, from a stop or making a 90 degree turn it does not happen as Im not moving too fast (~20mph or more).
3) No idea. Bought the car about 6 weeks ago.

I've heard people talk about leaking seals with non-Honda fluid, but I don't recall hearing about NOISE caused by using the wrong fluid. Anybody know???

i see no hard evidence this is even for sure the power steering pump....

but yes, only use honda PS fluid. The last owner of my car put non-honda in and after a few thousand miles it caused the pump AND the steering rack to leak.

I'm leaning more towards a brake issue, the centrifical force allowing the brake pad to slide just a little bit and squeel... just a guess though....

If it was the brake, the noise would stop (or at least it would change)if you apply the brakes during that 'sweeping curve'. Try that & see.

Noises are tough & there's nosubstitute for listening firsthand...

Funny and frustrating. No squeal today on same route to work. UGH!

I did check the psfluid reservoir yesterday after I turned the car off and found lots of little bubbles, foamy as you say. So I guess there is air entering the system somewhere.

I will give the hoses a good once over this weekend and see if I can clean that screen filter Jim mentioned.

Guys I really appreciate all the feedback.

Thanks.

Keep an eye out for brittle & cracked hoses at that PS reservoir. Anything that would let it suck air.

I'll make a stab at the brake pad 'squealers'. The squealers are little metal tabs attached to the pads designed to touch the rotor when the pads are approaching the time they need to be replaced (i.e. when quite worn), and make a horrible noise to warn you that the pads need replacing soon.

When cornering the bearings may move a little, changing the relationship of the rotor to the pads, possibly causing the sqealer(s) to touch the rotor even if it doesn't when the brakes are applied when travelling in a straight line (?).

Yeah, the brake wear-tabs can do that. Ifyouapply the brakes as it's making the noise, the noise will change. That'll tell you whether the noise is caused by the brakes.
