Keep an eye out for brittle & cracked hoses at that PS reservoir. Anything that would let it suck air.
Will do.

Would replacing those 'squeeze type' hoseclamps with the shiny wide ones with the nut/screw tighteneron them help?

Finally, just because Im wondering...and if you have a moment...explain to mewhy that reservior cap does not need/create an air tight seal. Just a clueless question.

???

If those squeeze clamps are loose, maybe replace with the same kind. Gear hose clamps have to be re-tightened occasionally as the rubber hose deforms with age. But a nice new clamp won't help an old brittle hose.

Every fluid reservoirhas a vent of some kind. Otherwise it'll pressurize itself with changes in temperature. Brake fluid reservoir cap has a tiny vent if you dismantle the cap & look for it. Battery caps are vented, even the windshield washer fluid.

The radiator's vent is the radiator cap. The 'vent' is the pressure release valve that doesn't open until the pressure reaches 1.1 bar.

UPDATE: Took itto the seller/mechanic shop. There issome seepage of psfluid from the pump. Sinceit needs timing belt replacement (92K miles) he will check on seals for the pump or replace it outright. He will also replace timing belt, wp and all belts. Total charge $400.

Im pleased. Now on to the other quirks like Cruise control and rear defrost.
