Poorman,

I took the battery out. Was looking at taking the battery tray out, but it has a lot of bolts, and what looks to be several things attached to it.

Am I correct that you have to take the battery tray out to be able to get to the bottom bolt of the starter, or am I going about this all wrong?

SHould be able to get to it without removing the tray.....might have to tug on the lower rad hose a bit to get around it.

Got the starter out today.

In case anyone looks at this in the future a few notes

#1 Getting the starter out on a 91,92 or 93 accord can be accomplished without taking anything out, but it certainly makes it easier without the battery tray in there and the battery tray is easy to remove.

#2 Link for guide need help replacing starter - CB7Tuner Forums

#3 PB blaster helps a LOT to get the bottom 17mm bolt off. Also a 24" breaker bar borrowed from autozone does not hurt either.

#4 You can run your car without your starter on it. I push started mine today. Just run electrical tape around the wires you removed.

I am SO happy this thing runs and everything works. Just going to do a few small things and get a starter put in it.

Next tasks are an oil chaing & new plugs/wires; then replacing the striker plate on the driver door because the door doesn't open and stopping water from leaking into the trunk

Thanks for your help!!

Water in the trunk is prob from a leak in the tail light gaskets.....either new ones or a bit of silicone on both sides of the old one....I'd start with the pass/right side as they seem to leak the most.

Yeh poorman. I had read a guide on replacing those. I guess going to honda for the gasket is the easiest since they are fairly cheap?

I plan to do all of it myself except the door plate. My dad wants his mechanic buddy to do it and I am going to let him. I read a DIY guide on it and it really did not look fun.

Also, there is an oil leak, possibly from the head gasket, possibly from something else that I need to diagnose and fix. The majority seems to be coming from the left side of the motor and a lot had dripped down around the starter. Maybe a picture would help?

Also, on the dip stick, kind of far up it there is a burnt oily type look. Does this mean anything in particular? My best guess on this so far is that it was run somewhat low on oil and got hot? I say this because I have read this elsewhere and the guy that had it last said he had to add oil regularly (I actually think he had to add oil because of the leak not because it burns it)

This site is weird about the size of pictures.

What I do is upload the pictures to an album on here. When I click on one of my pictures, there is a picture URL that I copy. I click on this icon in my post and paste the URL. Then you get a large picture in your post.

It is kind of a pain, but it works.

Hope this makes sense.

I tried uploading to the gallery but it gave me the same error. I was thinking it was the resolution of the picture, but it let me upload the first one which is the same as the other ones?
