starting issue
So my car is being an ****. This problem usually only happens when its cold outside, and when the car has been sitting for at least a couple hours or more. When I try to start it, all I get is a loud click. No turning over of the motor at all. Just the click. All the lights come on nice and bright, I can turn on the headlights and they look fine, so I dont think its the battery. If I keep trying to start it, sometimes it will start after a dozen or so tries, sometimes it wont. A couple times I have had to pop start it in reverse down my driveway. After it starts, it runs just fine, no issues at all. Its just the starting that is the problem. Im thinking starter or solenoid problem?

RE: starting issue
it might very well be a starter issue but do the easy and cheap things first\
make sure that battery cables are clean and tight , battery is fully charger do a load test on it .. should not go below 9.8 v
if all ok.. have someone try to start the car while you bang on the starter with a big metal bar ( pipe, screwdriver etc etc ) if it starts while you bang on it,, it is a bad starter .....
it might be internal starter contacts worn down,, i am not sure if you can get those by itself any more , or you got to buy the complete starter

RE: starting issue
My starter did this last summer. It was the contacts and solenoid. I found an Ebay store that had the solenoid and contacts for ~$20 plus shipping. Both my contacts were worn and the solenoid copper ring was chewed up in spots, so you might as well replace both.
You will have to email the store to get the proper solenoid and contacts. Its a lot cheaper than buying a new starter and very simple to do. Mine hasn't had problems since I fixed it.

If you need some instructions, I can post if you need them.
