Default Starting issue 95 accord

Hey everyone I'm new to the forum but I figured this might be the best place to get some help, I have a 95 accord with an H22a dropped into it. Recently I've been having starting issues, some times it starts right up and others I have to turn the key on and off very quickly for almost a minute, and every time I have to be on the gas pedal once it starts to crank just to get it to turn over. My question is can anyone give me some spots to look first for why my car won't crank over at the first turn of the key?

Is the starter turning the engine when you turn the key all the way forward to try to start the car? Or does nothing happen?

It gives a quick click when I try to start it some times other times it starts to turn over with the first turn, other times it takes almost 50 turns of the key to get it to even start the starter to start to turn the car over. Basically sometimes I get Nothing othertimes it turns right over and I haven't got a clue why?

There are two tests that you can do. When the car is not starting.

1. With the key in the start position by an assistant, make sure that black/white smaller wire on the starter solenoid has 12V.

2. Caveman test. When the car won't start, have someone hold the key in the start position. Hit the starter with the handle of a screwdriver with light/medium force near the two electrical connections. If the car starts, replace the starter solenoid and contacts.

To me it sounds like the starter as well, the clicking is usually a good indication. Also the problem usually gets progressively worse.

The tests PAhonda gave you should tell you for sure.
