Strange sound
I have a 2004 Accord which I purchased new a little over a year ago (approximately 9500 miles on it), and recently I noticed a starnge sound coming from the engine that sort of sounds like a distant helocopter (the noise is kind of faint). Is this something normal or should I be concerned?
Also what's the deal on changing the oil? In the manual is t says to change the oil every 10,000 miles, I thought the oil should be changd every 3,000 miles (which I've done 3 times since buying the car).
Thanks,
Tony

RE: Strange sound
As far as the noise is concerned I would approach the dealer about it. Something that vague cannot be diagnosed on a forum.
The 3000 mile oil change is a hard dying myth. Todays oils will go 5-6K easily. A true synthetic, Mobil1 for example, might reach Honda's exceedingly long interval, but not without a used oil analysis stating so. Also disregard the oil filter change every other oil change. That $4-$5 saved just isn't worth it in the long run.
You need to understand that all auto manufacturers are under the gun to show Joe Consumer a very low operating cost annually. This is done in various ways such as 100K tune ups, etc. I tend to keep my cars for quite a while but if you trade every two years proper maintenance is not as important.

You can't read it all in a month, there are thousands of members and God only knows how many posts. Use the search feature to narrow things down.
I hope this helps.
