Default Stuck shifter?

Any suggestions? Can anyone help?? I have an automatic 98 Accord. My shifter gets stuck at times and neither I or the damn mechanic I took it to can figure it out.
I noticed the brake lights don't go on when it's stuck.
Also at times, my brake lights don't light on when driving and braking.
Any help would be appeciated, Thanks.

Hello DJ! This exact same thing happened to our Ford Taurus (hopefully its about the same as on imports). I don't exactly know what its called but we had to replace a box where two metal contacts are located around or underneath the brake pedal somewhere. One of the contacts was broken so it wasnt making a closed circuit. Basically the box made the brake lights come on and if there wasn't a connection between the two conacts then it wouldnt let the cars shifter move. It wasn't to expensive, as we got the part from Advance Auto Parts, maybe like $20. Sorry for not having more info, my dads not here. Hope that helps a little!

yea your brake switch isnt working right. it not only controls your lights but it also controls the lock on yourshifter. if you replace that switch you wont have any more problems. hey what kind of music do you spin?

Hey thanks!! I checked it out and everything tells me that connection is the problem. I have no one to work with me so I don't know that the brake lamps are working since I'm underneath that stearing column. I should have this fixed by tomorrow and reply with the outcome of this issue. Thanks again

It shouldn't be more than 20 bux. It looks like two simple metal pieces that make a connection. I'm also fortunate to have Junkyard Honda Heaven two blocks away. It helps alot.

Okay thanks. I guess I will try this out. I am so happy there are simple solutiosn for this stuff. It sounds so serious.

I recall someone saying something about the brake lights.
I also have a problem with my brake lights.
During the day when I DO NOT have my headlights on whenever I push my brakes my internal lighting goes all kinds or shades and my parking lights come on.
At night when my headlights are on. The first time I use my brakes my brake lights come up fine...and stay up all night until I turn off my car.

What do you think my problem is?
Woudl that switch fix this problem?
