Sudden loss of power
Hi all: I was driving along the highway several days ago when finally the traffic slowed down to a crawl. Twice, there was abruptlyNO power (no warning nor lit-up gaugeseither) and both times luckily I managed to pulled over and stopped the engine. I could not find anything related to this in the troubleshooting section of the owners manual. When it happened the first time, the car did start afterwards but after travelling about 1/2 mile, it stopped again and pulled over. I remained on the shoulder until the traffic picked up again and bravingly, started the car to moveintohighway trafficand fortunately, the problem hasn't happened since. I'm very worried what caused this from a safety point and peace of mind and why. The only traffic condition that was different from normal driving was the fact the outside temperature was over 100 (but the temperature gauge was normal reading).I dont know if the fact I have aHybrid would bea factor.Advise please.

RE: Sudden loss of power
Could be ignition timing problem, maybe a distributor cap or rotor.....if it was the engine would sound horrible and have no power at all.....
You did say it was a hybrid though, out of my realm there.

RE: Sudden loss of power
Sorry, I'm still a newbie on this forum. Anyways, 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid is what I have so should I still check out the suggested ignition switch being a possible source? If so, should I have the dealer check it out or an auto electric mechanic? Thanks all.
