ive notice that my temp gauge on my 2000 accord ex with a 2.3 liter is kind of erratic.at times it takes a little while for it to rise and when it does it goes right about half way and at times a tad over half.at times it climbs quickly to that point i stated.it doesnt seem to be running hot?fans seem to be working.where exactly is everyones gauge normally run at?

On the 95 I'd call it 3:30, not sure if the '00 is an "down up" or "left right" gauge.......however, if starting from the same point (ie, sitting overnight) and the temp climbs at different rates as you describe, I'd look at testing/replacing the t-stat as a starting point.
