Default Timing belt again, need help!

OK, I need to change the timing belt and got the OEM auto parts from honda dealership today, timing belt for 49$ and water pump for 139$. They asked me at least 300$ labor feeforreplacing, too expensive!!!
Another guy who has small repair shop told me he can do it just for 50$. He asked me to bring the parts and 2 galons anti freeze fulid. And it will take 3-4 hours to finish. I am not sure he canworkwell on that, but is the anti freeze fulid necessary?Anddoes it need 3 hours to replace it? Ithink its a easy work.

It will take at least 3 hours to do it.
If you think it is easy, why don't you do it yourself?

What year of accord are you asking about?

You need to drain the antifreeze, because your are removing the pump and don't want antifreeze to spill all over the place. The mechanic can drain it into a buck and reuse if you want to save some $. For $50, you are getting a deal on the labor for a timing belt. Are you sure that he quoted you for the timing belt or did he misunderstand you and quoted you for the fan belts?

sorry dude, but $300 labor sounds like a good price. They didn't reem you for the parts either, always a good sign.

$300 labor sounds good to me, $50 from the small shop sounds sketchy. 3 - 4 hours sounds about right, allowing room for error and other issues.

And yes, you do need antifreeze (or radiator fluid as you say) to do the job.
