torque converter question
Torque converter is making a noise on f22b1. Just the whirling sound, and trans doesnt want to shift. Found a salvage that will let me get one if i pull it for $30. New is $200. Labors not a concern i have the skill and extra car and time. My question is any test i should do on the salvaged to try and get a good one? Will it wiggle while still on input shaft? Can i spin it and hear sounds? Any input please!!!! Ill dump the fluid and look for metal, but is there anything that gives me better odds than a coin toss?

I don't know of any test, just my experience checking out junkyard transmissions. Find one with fairly light colored fluid is my only recommendation. They rarely fail so odds are you'll get a good one. When it's seated properly on the input shaft the torque converter is not all that easy to turn so I don't think you'll get any significant spin out of it. There's a couple of splined shafts that it engages and I'm guessing one of them runs a pump.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Got the t c, trans not to bad to pull. Didn't have the axle nut socket, what is it 35mm, so i pulled the knucles and halfshats together. Took me an hour once i found the car and had my tools. Hope this tells me if i can justifiy a remanufacture, about $900 after shipping one year parts warranty. Don't wanna just throw money for no reason.
