I'm just very careful about buying into hype and slick advertising. The only additives in someones fluid is to make it an "extended" service fluid. Change my transmission fluid at 90,000 miles? Coolant never (in some cars)?? I don't think so. Spend your money keeping it changed the way people did 15 years ago before this extended service crap and your vehicle will love you for it. What SPECIFICALLY is so complicated about Honda's automatic transmissions that a good brand fluid will not protect it? Can anyone tell me? I'm driving my first Honda but my wife is on her third. Out of three the one that she got the least miles out of was 217,000 and that's because she gave it to her neice who put it up against a rather large tree. Yup, the car lost. She walked away so all is good. I dunno, just my opinion everyone's got their own I suppose.

 

AT fluid has friction modifiers in it. Honda's mix seems different enough, that many people have reported harsh shifting when they use Dexron fluid.

P/S fluid is another one where Honda's additive mix is different, in this case I think it's the seal-conditioning additives.

Engine oil, brake fluid, is normal stuff. Antifreeze should have no silicates, but there's several brands that are OK that way.

 

Engines were different 15 years ago. You HAD to change your fluids often (every 3K). Modern engines are engineered to go longer between fluid changes.

I would stick with the Z1.
