Default transmission fluid

my wife's 08 accord EXL is due for tranny fluid replacement. what is an acceptable store brand replacement. or should I only use the honda brand. I know the manual says use honda only but it is sunday and I want to get it done today. also would it worth the 100 $$$ to get the flush done at the dealer. thanks.

Honda fluid (period). Is there are carquest near by, they carry Honda fluid ~ $8 quart. Some dealer parts departments are open on Sunday.

If you do this....watch out for the fill bolt

thanks poorman carquest is closed today. what is the deal with the fill bolt. at $8 quart I am thinking I might as well get the flush and fill. I have not looked closely at the trans pan is there some tricky stuff to get to the pan. thanks for any help or tips.

The drain bolt comes out with no issues.....the fill bolt, if it has never been changed before, you will think they put 100 ft lbs of torque on it, when it comes loose you will think the socket broke, a crack sound you will remember.

Check the manual but I think a drain and fill is only 5 qts (something like 4.5??). I'm using the wife's 07 Pilot v6 as a ref here.

thanks. I should have said my wifes car has the 4 banger. I was planning on using a long funnel for refill into the hole with the dipstick. I usally measure what comes out and refill with the same unless it's low. her car has 83,000 on it and maybe is a half quart low never added any yet.
