Default Transmission Fluid Change

I have a 2006 Accord EX 4 door 4cyl with 24K miles. Any idea when the maintenance minder would typically call for a change of the tranny fluid under normal driving conditions? The owners manual states 60,000 for more extreme conditions, such as towing or mountainous driving. I do neither here in Wisconsin. I seldom drive less than 7-8 mile intervals and do a fair amount of Hwy driving. Thanks.....JK

You can probably get a solid 80k out of it then, if most of your driving is flat highway, however, I personally would do it every 60k anyway since it's fairly inexpensive to do... Make sure you just drain/re-fill, DO NOT FLUSH IT WITH A MACHINE.

do you want your tranny to last ?? replace tranny fluid every 30k miles , use only Honda ATF-Z1 tranny fluid , 3 qts at $ 6.27 per qt ,Heck parts and labor ,it will cost what ?? 30-40 dollars every 2 years or so,, Well worth the money ..trust me on this one ..
do not wait till 60 k miles
I just read your post again and you do not say wether it is A/T or manual tranny , the above advice using ATF-Z1 is for A/T tranny, if it is a manual tranny you got to use Honda MTF
Input the year and model etc etc in your signature so members won't have to guess .

Some questions on changing the auto tranny fluid:

1. What is the down side of having someone "flush" the old fluid out?
2. Owners manual says to drain, fill, drive, drain again, fill again. I assume this is to get the fluid out of the torque converter. How many qts total does it take to get this crude process completed? (2001 accord)
3. Is one drain, fill, drive, drain, fill cycle enough to get all the old fluid out??

Thanks!

If you aren't doing it yourself and having a shop do it, specifically request no detergents regardless if they drain and refill or use the machine. The detergents never all come out and they'll sit in there and breakdown your new fluid.
