Transmission Problem
Having problems with my 1999 Honda Accord LX ULEV 4-dr automatic transmission. Trouble started about August 2003 with a noticeable lurch when I would come to a stop and the transmission downshifted into first gear. It felt like someone had tapped me from behind. I had the Honda dealer look at it and they ran it through a machine that purged, filtered, and replaced the transmission fluid. Problem persisted and I took it to a local transmission shop that said it was an internal problem and the transmission had to be removed for repair or replacement. For personal reasons, I chose not to go that route and continued to drive the car. Over time, the transmission has developed trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd gear when the vehicle is cold. All gear shift positions start out okay in 1st gear, but 2nd gear does not catch until you coax it by playing with the gas pedal or riding it out in D1 until it starts to shift. Symptom is that it will just wind out when attempting to shift into 2d gear as if it went into neutral or if it were a manual transmission and you push in the clutch. All other gears shift smoothly at higher speed, and downshifting seems to work okay. The check engine light illuminated and I read OBD-II codes collected over the entire trouble interval as: 01-P0700, 02-P0700, 03-P0738, 04-P0739, and 05-P0730. Any chance this is a sensor problem? Any way I can temp repair so I can trade it in?
Ref:
P0700 - Transmission Control System Malfunction
P0738 - TCM Engine Speed Output Circuit Low
P0739 - TCM Engine Speed Output Circuit High
P0730 - Incorrect Gear Ratio

RE: Transmission Problem
try some lucas trans fix in it, but it sounds like a bad problem. my friend traded his probe in and the trans was completely blown and they still took it and gave him more than it was worth
