Transmission swap

Transmission swap
Hey guys, hope someone is able to shed some light on the subject.
I have a 98' accord ex with the f23+auto transmission. Well, unfortunately the transmission is bad..
I have an auto transmission for a f22, and I was told that I could use this transmission, direct bolt up, with only having to do a little wiring.
If this is true, please let me know haha, and if so have you done it and maybe want to help explain the wiring necessary for this "swap."

I am by no means an expert, but I did some poking around and I can't find anyone that has ever done that. It seems as though while the transmission will physically bolt to the engine, the wiring is too different to over come.
Also the F23 has a single unit ECU+TCU while the F22 had two separate units.
I would save myself the headache and buy a transmission that will work with the car.

I think I figured this out. Been doing research for a while now, and finally found someone that is using the f23a1 in their 97 accord with the f22 transmission using the f22 stock ecu. Seems he just swapped the motor out.
This leads me to believe that if I swap my ecu out with the f22 one, then install the f22 transmission it should work. Everything I have found (which isn't much) on this swap-out is the f23 has the separate TCU where-as the f22 is controlled by the ECU, as you have also mentioned.
Any thoughts?

I think you will run into problems. Putting a F23 engine in a 97 Accord is easier than putting a F22 transmission into a 98 Accord.
With the f23 engine you can use all the wiring harness and ECU from the 97 Accord.
The pin outs for the ECUs in the 97 and 98 are different and would require a rewiring headache.
Also the wiring for your transmission in the bay is different than that of a F22 transmissioned car.

This thread seems to do a pretty good job of showing the differences.

Though I know it is a lot of work, unfortunately I am on a budget. Do you think, if we swap out the wiring harness, it would work? I already have the transmission and ECU for f22, and wiring harness is only $100. The cheapest F23 auto transmission I have found is $700 from ebay and $900 locally..
Thanks for the feedback/discussion, it is much appreciated. Two+ heads are better than one!

I personally don't know if the F22 engine wiring harness will plug into the F23 chassis harness, but I doubt it. I'd like to get a second opinion on this situation. Feel free to chime in Poorman, Dr. Drivability, TexasHonda etc!

If I can find the link to that post again I will put it up here, should have bookmarked it. I know in one of the above mentioned poster, he said the f22 wiring harness would still plug-n-play basically with the f23 motor. Again, I am no expert though.
