Trunk won't open with master key
Hi guys and gals,
I bought a 2000 Honda Accord SE a few months back, and it's been great.
One thing that I've come to notice is that the master key won't open the trunk.
The remote trunk button does open the trunk,
and this is how I've been getting into it since I bought the vehicle.
The battery on the remote has been running low, and this is why I've been
trying the key, but to no avail.
Does anybody have a solution to this problem?
Has anyone experienced something similar?
I've done a quick Google check (see link below), and apparently, this is a know problem on Accords.

Thanks in advance!!!

RE: Trunk won't open with master key
don't take this the wrong way but are you sure that you are not using the valet key? Does your key lock the fuel door and trunk release along with the rear seat pass through and glvoebox?
If your key works properly, then you need to replace the lock for the trunk and have it rekeyed to your keys

RE: Trunk won't open with master key
Yes, it is the master key that is causing this problem.
(The grey colored valet key is safely tucked away in my desk drawer.)
The fuel door and trunk release locks/unlocks without any problems.
Having the trunk lock replaced and rekeyed at the dealership sounds like an expensive proposition.
I was hoping somebody could suggest a simpler fix.
Since I have no problems with the trunk release from inside of the car
or the remote trunk relesase, I am not dying to fix this. It's just inconvenient.
Better yet, I'd like to know how or why something like this could happen.
It just doesn't make any sense to me. Is this problem common in Honda Accords?
I am the second owner of the car, and the original owner took very good care of it.
He didn't mention anything that could have been related to this problem.
Just for kicks, how much would it cost to have the trunk lock replaced and rekeyed at the dealership?
Thanks again!
