I had strange headlight/turn signal problems on my 95 accord and found that the grounds for the headlights needed cleaning.

The grounds for the front lights went to two brackets bolted behind the bumper on the passenger and the driver's side. I unbolted the bracket and used a dremel with a wire wheel to clean the bracket and the bolt. The problem went away immediately after I reassembled everything. The grounds are G201 and G301 in the pdf of the shop manual you can download for the 94 accord (Page 23-16 and 23-17). The common diy thread on top of the gen tech forum has the links.

Those weird plastic ground clips have always been suspect to me. Civics have them too. Turned out to be the problem with my friend's EG.

Thanks for that. I will check that out this weekend. I ohmed out the grounds to the neg on the battery while disconnected and got no resistance, but worth a shot. Also, I did notice my cluster is screwed, don't know if that is associated, but have to swap out this weekend as well, because its butchered together from the original 95 and parts of a 97 cluster. I have to take the front bumper off this weekend to fix the inner bumper support and add some bolts for the driver side fender I just noticed missing... Will post what I find out...

If nothing fixes issue, I might just wire them up to the bumper turn signals, so they will have that function, instead of dual while I have the bumper off.

Imho, what you described sounds like a short on the power (+) side, on the Grn/Wht wire. It doesn't seem to be a short in the Integrated Control Unit, as you tried different units.

As, mention in my post # 30, "Disconnect the 16P green connector from the integrated control unit. Then closely examine the Grn/Wht wire terminal and the wiring to see if some insulation may be chafed, etc. and shorting with another wire. The Grn/Wht wire supplies power to the front left side marker. The Grn/Wht wire is a wire with green insulation and a white stripe running through it.

In addition, at connector C309, a 12P brown connector (for coupes and sedans) on the under-dash fuse box, also check the Grn/Wht wire there.

You may also want to examine the Grn/Wht wire at the front left side marker area and connector."

The picture of connector C309 is at post #30.

Also, check the wiring feeding along the fender side to the front left marker.

I just did a quick test to confirm with a flashing circuit on a breadboard. If I short the power wire to the lights (I used LEDs for a quick test) with another power wire, the lights will stop flashing and remain steady on. I eventually burnt out a LED in the process due to the excess voltage.

Yeah, I am gonna check the wiring again. I am pulling the fender off this weekend, as I recently went to solid motor mounts, and it started rattling bad, I discovered a few missing bolts... All but the top ones I should say, so I am pulling the front bumper cover off anyways, so I will recheck everything. I was just wondering about the cluster, because this problem popped up shortly after swapping the clusters... But oh well, I will find out this weekend.

For the integrated control units you got from the salvage yard, were they also from 94-95 Accord 4 cylinders? Only the 94-95 ICU had the side marker flasher relays in them.

The reason I asked is because when I was looking at the circuit diagrams for 96 and 97 Accords to answer another thread, the integrated control units on those do not have a side marker flasher relay in them.

The ICU I got the second time was from s 94, the first one was from a 97... The 97 ICU didn't even allow the parking lights to turn on... I replaced the cluster other day with one from a 97 and all is working great now... I got a 95 cluster and both markers were acting up, but for some reason the 97 cluster is working great with no apparent issues. Only downfall I have seen is the new cluster has 40k more miles on it, but oh well, all is good...

Thanks for the help and hopefully this will help someone else out as well.

I did notice in the junkyard, there seemed to be 2 different styles of ICU's... One was brown and the other blue... Both of which have different numbers, but I did pull a blue one that had the same numbers as mine, and it didn't allow the parking/marker lights to work, and the timer for the wiper delay didn't work as well, not sure what else, but the one I have now is working all around... I put my original one in after the new cluster and all is working, so now I have a spare for later down the road.
