Default Uneven Parking Brake

Okay, in my 2003 Honda Accord the parking brake became very loose. I disassembled the console and noticed that the passenger side cable is substantially longer than the driver side.

I went underneath to see why this might be the case, but I can't seem to find any culprits. So right now, the parking brake only works on the driver side.

Any suggestions or causes for this. I realize that cables sometimes do stretch, but this amount of play seems excessive for a wire cable.

Have rear brake pads been replaced recently?

Someone may have damaged the e-brake mechanical assy that actuates the caliper to set the pads on the rotor and provide parking brake.

good luck

No, I looked at it and it seemed to look fine. The spring looked like it was in good condition and had no rust. When comparing it to the driver side I could not notice any substantial differences.

Perhaps wire corroded and/or broke somewhere.

When you pull brake pedal does wire move the RR caliper ebrake mechanism?

good luck

Might be the internal auto-adjust mechanism for the handbrake (inside the caliper). So as the pads wear down only one side of the handbrake is properly adjusting itself??
