Default Unknown error

I'm not much of a car guy but I've recently changed my engine oil(Valvoline full-synthetic), sparks(NGK platinum), and oil filter(K&N). Since then my MAIN. REQ. has been flashing on and off. So I disconnected the battery for a reset then I double checked the sparks and it's spacing but nothings wrong. The only real problem I'm having is that acceleration is down a bit and when I do push on gas it makes a thud or gasping sound. I've yet to change the filter on the stock intake and as of right now I leaning towards that as the problem. I've had this 2001 2.3 V-tec coupe since 2006 and have babied the thing since I would appreciate it if some one can help me.

The Maint.Req. lamp is simply a mileage reminder, to remind you that it's time to change your oil. There's no error codes for that. You have to reset it when you change your own oil.

1- Key OFF.
2- Press & hold the odometer-reset button in the cluster.
3- Continue holding that button & turn the key ON (no need to actually start the enigne).
4- Continue holding the button for about 20 more seconds.
5- The lamp should flash a few times then stay off.
DONE.
