Default up and down idle

I replaced the head gasket on my 1995 accord wagon 4cyl vtec. Now it idles fine until it warms up. Then the idle goes up and down about 1000rpms inpark but doesn't do it in drive.I cleaned the deal on the back of the intake by the fire wallbut no help. thanks

perhaps just leave it and tell people you have a really aggressive cam shaft? lol

I would check for vacuum leaks, and check the idler control valve

Yay another guy from MN!!! And then I saw 55082 in your profile and I couldn't believe it! I'm also from Stillwater/Lake Elmo/Woodbury/etc... Are you related to Brian Jahnke? I graduated in his class.

Air trapped in the coolant could cause this problem. On a cold engine, open up the radiator cap and unscrew the bleeder valve on the thermostat housing. Add coolant to the radiator until a steady stream of coolant comes out of the top. Shut that valve and top off the radiator.

also it probably wouldnt' hurt to replace the PCV valve, it's ~$14 (which is way more expensive than my Saturn's PCV valve at $1.50); but is good to change those roughly every 10k miles.

I just replaced the PCV valve on 2 separate cars that were having an idle issue and this fixed it; but YMMV

PCV for a 95 is less than $5. I don't like the FRAM ones though... they always fall apart on me. I go with Napa for those
