Used OEM or new generic brand starter?
Does anyone have any thoughts on which starter I should buy for my 1999 Accord? I could get a new generic brand (Duralast) from Autozone for $80 or I could get used, OEM Honda/Nippodenso starter from a used parts place that came out of an Accord with 60K miles for $100. And the remanufactured OEM starter from the Honda dealership is $168. I'd like to save as much money as possible without having to replace the starter again (my car has 231k miles, so it's out lived its youth). Just not sure if the Duralast starters are any good. Thanks for your feedback.

I would say used OEM or as an alternative, rebuild yourself or have a alternator/starter repair shop rebuild the OEM starter you have.
In my other reply to your other thread: my nephew got an Autozone Duralast starter with limited lifetime warranty, it went bad in a few weeks.

My starter went out last year. I ended up replacing it with a re-manufactured OEM one from Pep Boys. It ended up being about $90.....$130 to buy the starter, then you get $40 back if you return your old one to them.
