Vehicle Shakes Above 45 MPH / 70 KMPH Speed
I recently purchased a used 2004 Honda Accord 2.4 AT Petrol that shows about 76,000 KM on the odometer. I'd done most of the pre-delivery inspection, but drove the vehicle within residential limits during the test drive.
The vehicle drives without any problems below 45 MPH / 70 KMPH speed. However, the entire vehicle begins to shake violently as it reaches about 45 MPH / 70 KMPH on the speedometer. The shaking gets worse as the speed increases.
I already had the wheel balancing and wheel alignment done recently. I was informed that it was probably the drive shaft that is causing the problem. However we have now confirmed that the drive shaft is NOT the cause.
Is there any other likely cause for this to occur?
Thanks.

Rotate the tires front to back and check to see if the bolts to hold the brake rotors on are correct and not holding the rim from fitting flush on the rotor. The bolt head should be flush with the rotor. I have yet to see a half shaft without physical damage giving a vibration. You could have a bent rim, belt shift in tire or something in the tire like water. I am assuming you don't have an issue with snow on the rims as that will give you just what you have.
