Default Vibration on Acceleration

My 2003 Accord EX with manual transmission just developed a vibration only when the car is accelerating. The vibration is not in the steering wheel but rather it feels like it's the whole car shaking. It only happens when I accelerate through 30mph-35mph and again when I accelerate from 60mph-65mph. It only happens or rather it's much more "pronounced" when I aggressively accelerate. I can hardly feel it when I slowly accelerate through those speeds. Since the steering wheel doesn't shake I don't think it is balance. I'm thinking axel? What's the best way to diag this?

Thanks!
Chris

I'd note down what gears you're in, maybe rpms too, and if that makes a difference.

years ago had nissan sedan that developed vibration at ~40 and 65 mph @ 6,000 miles new.
dealer determined it was a defective tranny bearing and fixed under new car warranty.

luck

It's doesn't seem to be gear specific which is a good thing I think. I do seem to feel a little sway in the front but I may be hyper sensitive now. Looks like it's tame to take her to the shop.

I had a long running problem w/ vibration/shuddering under acceleration that was only fixed after I replaced both front axles (Autozone) w/ new Raxles. Problem fixed,...finally. Search "raxles" for my post on the problem.

Difficult to defintively diagnose w/o replacing an axle. The axles did not exhibit particular looseness when I checked them in place. R axle was beginning just recently to pop a bit, but this problem had been going on close to 2 yrs before resolved.

good luck

I would agree with the axle idea.

Best I can tell the axles are not loose. From all of my reading and observations I do believe it is an axle problem. Now the question is.. Do I do it myself or take it to a shop. My skill level is "Brake Pads/Starter". Is this something I should attempt? *grin*

Search for v=jydxpsh13WQ on YouTube for a good video on how to do this. Then you can decide if you can do the repair.

Had the same thing on my 03, both axles solved the problem, in addition the CV boots were still intact...unusual for axle to fail with boots intact, but I guess it happens. Not too difficult of a job to do, unless the axles are frozen in the hubs...happens sometimes.

Did you use OEM axles? If so do you mind me asking where you purchased them?
