I have a estate with the same bad shaking prob on hard exceleration. Its from 60 to 75mph then totaly disappears after 80. Just been down garage and orderd two complete drive shafts with cv joints. 840 quid later (could of gone on nice holiday with that) they are turning up in the morn so hope it stops raining. Hope this will solve my prob and if it does will let you no.

that's $1350 bucks US if my conversion is correct. That's quite pricey, even if it is with installation. $300.00 would be on the high end here, axles & install...

Hi Dr Drivability yep that conversion bout right. They were one of the cheaper garages! for them to fit they wanted another 600 ish of your bucks. Done it myself in between racing and building my mates wall over weekend. And yes she runs as smoth as. Just got to do the brakes now. Judders like a b*****d slowing down.

Everything is tested on our MOTs especially the emissions. Cant get away with anything now. Its all on the computers. All garages are linked to the DVLA who know if you are insured, car TAX and if you got a licence. They are watching

yup, same here, but it's just emissions testing for us in california. but the DMV knows if the vehicle is insured or not...as far as license, you'd think they would know, but they don't. what's it cost to get the MOT?

Well it depends where you go for your MOT. It can vary from 50 to 65 notes. Think thats about 80 or 90 ish of your dollar. Not bad considering everything else is so expensive. Dont even mention petrol. When i was over your way a few years ago couldnt believe how cheap yours was. Did notice though even your super unleaded is only 92 ron if i remember correctly.?

you can get a smog here in california for as cheap as 30 bucks, gas is as high as 4.50 in some places now...still the cheapest in the world, well the civilized world anyway our current admin. would love to see 7 or 8 bucks a gallon, and everybody buying little hybrid sh*tboxes with the 7k gov't subsidy. our EPA needs to go...global warming my azz...just my .02. 91 octane is the highest you can get now in california...been that way for several years.

Octane is posted differently in UK/Eur. There's actually a dozen or more ways to measure "octane". RON is "research octane number" & MON is "motor octane number".

UK posts the RON numbers which are higher. USA fuel is labeled as the average of MON & RON. The same fuel will measure say 86-MON and 96-RON so the UK pumps will say 96 and USA pumps will say 91.

I know a couple guys from UK who have come over here. It's really funny when we complain of fuel prices, within earshot of the UK guys...

Just for my curiosity, I thought the MOT exams include a lot of stuff like structural roadworthyness. They can fail you for holes in the fenders. True?? Legend?? We get very little of that kind of exam here.

if we had safety inspections in addition to the smog program and removed vehicles from the road that had structural and/or saftey issue with them 10% of the cars would be gone overnight...but then of course that's discrimination, and every poor person or minority would be up in arms here in cali. we used to smog cars with bald tires little or no brakes, wiped out suspension components, but as long as it passed you got your tags. boy did we get off topic
