Vibration under acceleration on 94 Accord EX manual
Recently, I had a private shop replace both axles on my 94 Honda Accord EX 5spd manual 4door with 240kmi due to torn CV boots. They have used APW (after market) axles and ever since then, the front end of the car vibrates under load. I have taken my car back to the same shop 3 times and they replaced the axles a total of 5 times including trying out another brand but it didn't fix the vibration. Today, I took my car to a different shop (another private) and after the mechanic has done several tests, he believed it was a bad axle on the passenger side. However, the vibration is still there after he put on a re-man axle. Also, the front engine mount was replaced but didn't help. Do any of you know what could be causing the problem? Both shops tell me the axles are not the problem because they never had problems with them, but I hear bad things about after market axles. Please help!
Some of the highlights:
-Vibrates only on acceleration especially going up hill around 3000 rpm but also detected on highway speeds
-Vibrates in any gear
-the rate of the vibration goes with the rate of the speed of the car and not the rev, gets faster as speed gets faster
-no vibration in idle
-Vibration can be felt on seat, gas pedal and doors
-engine runs smooth
-just had tires balanced and alignment
-Car did not vibrate before axles were replaced

Every thing points to bad CV axles.
I would have the rear motor mount inspected. It can be seen from pax side w/ good light. Load engine w/ brake firmly held to apply load to motor mount. Inspector standing to passenger side fender can see the motor mount and look for damage.
I have heard horror stories by others of aftermarket axles. I've personally visited a "rebuild shop" in Houston where axles were being "reworked". The rebuilt consisted primarily of swabbing out most of old grease, add new grease, new boot and voila!, a rebuilt axle. I have no experience w/ APW brand bad or good.
good luck
