VSA/ Noise
Hi I am a new member here, and i have just purcahsed a 2006 Honda Accord EX V6 w/ Navigation.
I have two concerns: the 1st is with the VSA. When the VSA is engaged, the gas pedal feels "flimsy" where as when i initially step on it, there is a gapy between pushing it down and the car actually moving. When VSA is not engaged, the pedal feels normal, where it responds to every step. This is the best i can explain. I was just wondering if this is normal or not.
2nd problem is concerning when i put the car into reverse. After backing out, and puttting the vehicle into drive and then stepping on the gas, after about a second or two, i hear and feel a grind on the bottom of the vehicle, as if i hit a speed bump and it scrapped the bottom. This only happens for about a second or two and the noise goes away. I am not sure if this is normal or not.
I thank you for your replies and concerns, and really hope i can clear this problem up. Other than these two problems, i love the accord, and hopefully it will bring me years of great driving experience.
Thank you

RE: VSA/ Noise
Atwood,
I answered your #2 question in your other posting.
Your #1 concern has to do with Vehicle Stability Control and the Gas Pedal. 2005 and up Accords come with a cableless throttle (fly by wire). I would assume that VSA is naturally engaged every time that you start the car and you would have to turn off the safety feature manually (switch). This is generally the case as you wouldn't try to switch it on if you just realized you entered that corner way too fast. Anyway I'm sure that when engaged the VSA buffers (slows) the throttle input so as not to induce any tire slip. VSA is an addition to the TCS on previous models so it would be an enhancement that I don't have. You may benefit from reading the owners manual closely on the VSA section to see if there is any quality related info you may have missed the 1st time through, otherwise I would go and drive 2 more to very the condition is common.

RE: VSA/ Noise
first problem is just what was posted. you have a electronic throttle system on the car. when you press the gas, you change the reading of a sensor which then flips open the butterfly on your throttle body. the other problem is also normal, you can rest easy, sounds like your new car is doing great. o and welcome to the board.
