Default weird acting speedo?

well i was on my way to work this am,. going 55mph and rpms were at 1700-1800rpm....well all of a sudden my speedo went from 55 to 85 then to 90 and then it went to 0 and it stayed there , and i didnt speed up or slow down, i get to work and say forget it rite now i gotta work, well im off work and the speedo works for about 3 minutes then does the same thing it shows im doing 45 jumps to 70 and holds then its on 0 and stays there , then it would jump a little and go back to 0....

hit the dash above the gauge assembly while the problem is happening. if it magically springs to life, inspect the gauge connectors. if they seem ok and tight, no corrosion or burnt terminals replace the speedometer gauge or the engine gauge assembly, your choice.

If the cruise control still works when the speedometer fails, then the speedometer is the problem. If the cruise doesn't work, then the VSS is the likely culprit. A bad VSS will cause the CEL to come on.

a lot of car parts on ebay come with 30 day warranties. look for a VSS with one.
